This comes just over a month after the ride-hailing startup partnered with Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) to fuel its expansion into Southern Nigeria. The partnership followed Plentywaka’s one-year anniversary commemoration where founders spoke to Technext about the company’s model and expansion plans.

Speaking on the IVM collaboration, Plentywaka co-founder, Onyeka Akumah had stated: “With IVM on board, we’re breaking into new territory so riders in the South-eastern states are not left behind.”

Plentywaka revealed at the time that it would kick off its South South launch in Delta state after procuring additional vehicles to its existing fleet from Innoson.

Still an e-hailing company, WakaCab is the new ride-hailing service introduced by Plentywaka. Instead of buses, WakaCab will feature cars for riders to book trips exclusively or with friends and family to their preferred destination.

For now, WakaCab is available in Asaba and Warri areas of Delta state, with Plentywaka promising to expand to other cities later on. WakaCab cars are fully air-conditioned and Pilots (drivers) will be hosted on the Plentywaka mobile app.

In its first year of operation, Plentywaka completed over 200,000 trips booked by more than 40,000 riders via its e-hailing app.

Also, Plentywaka says it is offering free rides worth N1,000 to the first 200 riders who book WakaCab trips through its mobile app.

In a statement via its official twitter handle, the company said:

“If you are in ASABA or WARRI and you haven’t downloaded the Plentywaka app, we regret to inform you that you have carried last. Download the app now to get FREE RIDES worth 1000 Naira. Offer valid for the FIRST 200 RIDERS to use the promocode PLENTYWAKADELTA”

In line with its expansion plans, Delta becomes the third state in Nigeria, after Lagos and Abuja where Plentywaka is now operational within the country.
