Hey there! It’s been quite a ride in the social media world this week. Luckily, we had a break from the podcast drama this week, thank heavens, but that doesn’t mean the entertainment industry stayed quiet.
David Hundeyin got vexed and provided receipts of Burna Boy’s alleged murder attempt, but what takes the crown is Ned Nwoko’s admission that he was close to joining the now-fatal submarine expedition to explore the ruins of the Titanic. Thank the gods.
As always, we’ve got you covered with the juiciest gists that took over the trending charts this week. So grab a seat, kick back, and get ready to dive into all the latest gists.

Ned Nwoko’s escape from OceanGate’s Titanic submersible

Everyone is now aware of the tragic incident involving the Titan submersible. Can you believe there are individuals out there who were willing to spend $250,000 each for this adventure? No doubt. it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience to explore the legendary Titanic wreckage that is 12,500 below sea level.
However, this time around, things took a disastrous turn as the submersible tragically imploded near the Titanic wreckage, killing all 5 onboard including the CEO of OceanGate, the company that organised the tour. It has been all over the media, both traditional and social. But that’s not all.

Amidst the mourning and shock surrounding these unfortunate deaths, Ned Nwoko, Regina Daniels’s husband and one of Nigeria’s wealthy billionaires, in his attempt to express condolences on Instagram, casually dropped a bombshell. Apparently, he was actually invited to be part of this grand adventure but had to decline due to his “national duties.”
“He also invited me on his space shuttle last year and this very Titan ill-fated adventure but I was tied down with national duties,” Nwoko said in an Instagram post on Friday, sharing photos with the late aviator.

$250,000 is like 200 million naira. Of course, as expected, social media went into a frenzy. Some thanked the heavens for saving Ned Nwoko’s life. But, as always, sceptics out there claim that his post was nothing more than a clout-chasing move.

Bill Gates weighs in on ‘new and old cat’ drama

Remember the “old cat vs. new cat” drama that set social media ablaze last week? Well, Bill Gates’ visit to Nigeria has resurrected the debate in all its glory. During one of his speeches, while discussing the rise of Afrobeat, Gates revealed that his daughter, Phoebe, prompted him to look up Burna Boy and Rema, the very same artists Davido had previously hailed as the “new cats.”

But that’s not all, the plot twist here is that Bill Gates reminisced about his last visit to Nigeria back in 2018 when he witnessed the powerhouse performances of none other than Davido and Wizkid—the OG “old cats.” Let’s just say he unintentionally added more fuel to the fire.

The social media space got litt again as people seized the opportunity to reignite the debate. Many Burna Boy fans were quick to dismiss Bill Gates’ statement, some have even twisted the whole angle to question why was in Nigeria in the first place.
For Davido’s fans, the case is closed.

David Hundeyin vs Burna Boy’s Unruly Outsiders

In 2022, rumours emerged that Burna Boy and his entourage had fired weapons at Club Cubana after a woman refused to join Odogwu at his table. It was a dramatic event that burst overnight and many people accused the Grammy award winner of attempted murder.
According to those reports, there were some heated exchanges between the man whose wife was being hit on and Burna Boy’s crew. a crew member allegedly fired multiple shots while Burna Boy was seemingly unfazed and even laughing. Unfortunately, one clubgoer ended up getting shot in the thigh, and another took a bullet to the head during the chaotic scene.
The incident caused a massive uproar on social media at the time, with Outsiders passionately defending their favourite artist. Eventually, though, the commotion died down, and things seemed to settle. But just when everyone thought it was over, David Hundeyin recently resurfaced with what he claims to be additional evidence regarding the matter.

According to David Hundeyin’s tweet, Burna Boy’s fans have pushed him to the wall. This has reignited the whole debate, with fans once again taking sides and pointing fingers. Some are questioning the credibility of Hundeyin’s materials, while others are eager to delve deeper into the controversy.

Guinness World Record and Nigerian cook-a-thons
So, it seems like we have a cooking marathon frenzy going on in Nigeria, and everyone wants a taste of that fame, recognition, and hype that comes with breaking a Guinness World Record.

Hilda Baci walked the Guinness World Record “cooking marathon” race so that other chefs can fly, hoping to snatch that title away.

One such chef is Chef Dammy, who is planning a whopping 150 hours of cook-a-thon next month to break Hilda Baci’s record. Apparently, she had previously done a 120-hour cooking session just for fun, without officially registering with GWR. But this time, she’s serious about making it count and going for the title.
But Chef Dammy isn’t the only one in this race. There’s a new chef in town, also aiming for that 150-hour mark. The competition is heating up, and it’s creating quite a stir on social media. It’s crazy how everyone seems to be jumping into this category, almost tearing their shirts in the process.

But hey, as Layi Wasabi humorously pointed out in his skit, dreams are unique. Perhaps, for these chefs, breaking cooking marathon records is their ultimate dream. Who are we to judge? Let the cooking battle commence, and may the best chef(s) win!
Well, that is all guys, See you next week.
Oh, have a fun-filled weekend
