The dismembered remains of Christian Peev, a missing American crypto investor, have been found in a sewer in Bulgarian. The remains were discovered by plumbers attempting to fix a blocked drain on Tuesday, per reports.
A Daily Mirror report says Christian Peev was reported missing by his cousin last Thursday. But recent findings might indicate that the 41-year-old may have been murdered two days earlier by his friend Vesco Valchinov.
This tragedy follows a similar situation last month where another crypto influencer, Fernando Pérez Algaba was found dead in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

What exactly happened to Christian Peev?
Reports say Peev disappeared in early August, and his cousin reported him missing to authorities last Thursday, which prompted an investigation.
Unfortunately, the dismembered body of the American-Bulgarian investor was found on Tuesday by plumbers called to fix a blocked drain in Sofia, Bulgaria, who eventually discovered that it was pieces of a human body that caused the blockage. The remains were later identified to be Peev’s body, although parts of the body, like the head and bones were missing. These were discovered to be buried as the murderer could not flush them down the toilet.
During investigations, Vesco Valchinov, a bartender, was named as the prime suspect in connection to the murder. It is said that Christian Peev met Vesco at a bar 5-6 years ago due to his likeness for such events. Following this, Christian Peev introduced Valchinov to the world of cryptocurrency.
But how this friendship led to the murder is still not fully understood. Surveillance footage shows both Valchinov and Peev entering Valchinov’s residence last Tuesday, but Valchinov was the only one seen leaving his residence the following day. Additionally, forensic evidence shows that Valchinov killed Peev with a dumbbell in his residence.
Valchinov was arrested after police used his phone to track him to a hotel in Vitosha Mountain. Reports also say Konstantin Subotinov who is a henchman to Valchinov has been arrested by the authorities. He confessed that he helped Valchinov get rid of Peev’s body by driving some of the parts to Vitosha to bury it.
What was the cause of Christian Peev’s murder?
Peev was believed to have made a lot of money from his crypto investments. In this connection, authorities believe that the murder is connected to money issues. The speculations are that Valchinov might have been jealous of Peev and the fortune he has built for himself.
However, the investigation is still ongoing, and more details will be unveiled, as authorities tend to crack the case and figure out what led to this tragedy.
Recent killings in the crypto space
Christian Peev is only the second high-profile crypto millionaire to be found murdered and dismembered within a month. Last month, we reported the murder of Argentinian crypto influencer Fernando Pérez Algaba whose remains were found chopped up in a suitcase.
Earlier in April, MobileCoin founder Bob Lee died after being stabbed in San Francisco, and in May, Onfo Coin creator John Forsyth was found shot dead in North-West Arkansas. Late last year, Russian billionaire Vyacheslav Taran was killed when the helicopter he was travelling in crashed near Monaco. Reports say the crash happened in good weather and another would-be passenger cancelled their journey at the last minute.
A week before Taran’s misfortune, the founder of Hong Kong-based digital asset company, Amber Group, Tiantian Kullander died suddenly in his sleep. The 30-year-old had built the company into a $3 billion ‘fintech unicorn.’
Around that same time, MakerDAO developer and crypto millionaire Nikolai Mushegian apparently drowned in Puerto Rico. Apart from the fact that he was said to suffer from various mental health problems, just hours before his death, Nikolai tweeted conspiracy-themed messages which foretold his passing.
