The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the 2025 Federal Technical College entrance results, noting that only 39% of 24,074 candidates scored 50% and above.
During the disclosure, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the board, Dr Aminu Mohammed, noted that the announcement marked the commencement of a three-day exercise for placing students into technical colleges.
While only 9,389 students passed the Computer-Based Test (CBT) examination, Mohammed revealed that only 1.31%, representing 316 candidates, scored 70% and above in the technical examination. In addition, 8 candidates, representing just 0.03% of the total candidates, achieved the highest mark. At the far end, 14,685 candidates, constituting 61% scored below 50%.
The registrar admonished stakeholders involved in the selection and placement process to identify and admit students best suited for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes offered by the colleges.
“I look forward to a fair, transparent, and merit-based selection process that attracts the most talented and motivated students. By getting this process right, I am confident that we can set our students up for success and enhance the reputation of our institution,” the NABTEB boss said.

The registration for the National Common Entrance examination started on December 16, 2024, and was later extended to June 11, 2025, while the examination was conducted on Saturday, June 14, 2025.
He commended the Federal Government’s renewed interest in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training, and the invaluable contributions of the Minister of Education and the Minister of State for Education to the initiative. In his remarks, the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, urged administrators in the sector to implement the government’s policies.
