MTN South Africa has appointed Muyiwa Ladipo as Chief Consumer Officer for prepaid, effective September 15, 2025. Ladipo is currently the pricing and portfolio manager of EE Mobile UK, the second-largest telecom operator in the UK.
According to MTN South Africa, Ladipo possesses more than two decades of commercial leadership experience in the telecom sector across MTN operations and other globally recognised players.
“Muyiwa brings deep strategic insight, operational expertise, and a proven track record in transforming consumer businesses,” said MTN South Africa.
In his previous role as Chief Marketing Officer at MTN Irancell, Muyiwa Ladipo spearheaded five consecutive years of double-digit revenue growth and led the successful commercialisation of its 4G network. MTN Irancell, also known as Irancell, is an Iranian telecom company jointly owned by MTN Group (49%) and Iranian Electronic Development (51%).
During his tenure at Irancell, Ladipo held key leadership positions where he was instrumental in championing airtime penetration, digital recharge innovations, and embedding an insight-led approach to customer value management.
“MTN wishes Muyiwa every success in his new role and looks forward to the impact he will make in continuing to deliver world-class experiences to South African prepaid customers,” said MTN South Africa.

Reacting to the development, MTN South Africa CEO Charles Molapisi said that Ladipo’s return to the group marks an exciting new chapter for its prepaid business, which remains a core focus area for the mobile network operator.
“Muyiwa brings both, along with a wealth of global experience and a proven track record in driving customer-centric growth,” he noted.
Molapisi mentioned that Muyiwa Ladipo’s leadership will be crucial to delivering the company’s value proposition, driving innovation, and strengthening its market position.
“We are thrilled to welcome him back as we focus on the next phase of our prepaid growth journey,” the CEO added.
The chief commercial officer for prepaid at the telecom company appears to be a newly created position.

Muyiwa Ladipo’s addition to MTN South Africa comes when it is experiencing intensified competition in the country’s telecoms sector with the likes of Vodacom, Cell C, and Telkom.
MTN South Africa’s revenue grew by 3.1% to over R43 billion as of 31 December 2024. Its service revenue went up by 2.6%, while outgoing voice revenue declined by 3.2%. Also, total subscribers grew by 5.6% to 39.2 million, with post-paid customers up by 6.7% to 4.4 million, attributed to a stronger uptake of integrated voice and data plans, as well as home propositions.
In addition, total data revenue for the period saw an encouraging growth of 3.9% and contributed 48.3% to the company’s total service revenue, from 47.7% a year ago. The growth was also driven by a 6.7% increase in active data subscribers to 21.8 million, with a 19.3% rise in data traffic.
