PiggyVest customers are experiencing transaction delays, with the fintech attributing at least some of the problems to temporary network downtime at the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS).
Responding to a customer on X, PiggyVest said, “The delay in processing your transaction is due to temporary network downtime from NIBSS.” The company added that affected funds would be credited once the service is fully restored.
The disruption comes shortly after the fintech rolled out a redesigned app with new products, including Kids Accounts, Joint Accounts and PiggyVest Business, which were unveiled at its 2026 OpenHouse.

The timing has led some customers to question whether the new app could also be responsible for some of the problems they are experiencing. However, PiggyVest has only confirmed NIBSS downtime as the cause of the transaction delay mentioned in its response.
PiggyVest customers also report login problems
In addition to transaction complaints, some customers have reported difficulties accessing their accounts. One user mentioned on X that they were unable to log in due to a PIN error, even though they typically use Face ID to access their account.
These reports come as PiggyVest continues to roll out updates for its revamped application. This redesign is part of the fintech company’s expansion beyond its traditional savings and investment products, introducing new offerings aimed at children, couples, and businesses.

However, there is currently no confirmation that the reported login issues are connected to the NIBSS disruption or the recent app redesign. NIBSS operates essential infrastructure for electronic payments between Nigerian financial institutions, which means that downtime in its services can affect transactions on platforms that rely on it.

At this time, PiggyVest has confirmed at least one link between NIBSS downtime and a customer’s delayed transaction. Other complaints, particularly those related to login and account access, remain unresolved until the company can identify their cause.
The fintech company has advised affected customers to wait for NIBSS services to be restored, after which pending funds are expected to be credited.
